The Gray Squirrels are a common site around Amelia Island.
Friendly and playful.
As in most other mammals, communication among Eastern Gray Squirrel individuals involves both vocalizations and posturing. It has a quite varied repertoire of vocalizations, including a squeak similar to that of a mouse, a low pitched noise, a chatter, and a raspy "mehr mehr mehr". Other methods of communication include tail-flicking.

Very Conveniently Located
Amelia Island Plantation is on Amelia Island in northeast Florida, just across the St. Mary's River from Georgia and adjacent to the historic city of Fernandina.
The resort overlooks the azure blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Intracoastal Waterway on the west. Though private, secluded and protected by a gated entry, we're also very convenient.
We're just a short 45 minute drive from downtown Jacksonville, and 29 miles from Jacksonville International Airport. Private and corporate aircraft charters can also fly directly to Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport, four miles north of the Resort.
